Costume #3 - Trick or Treating

Katie's friend Kennedy invited her to go trick or treating in her neighborhood. Before venturing out they watched and learned from Toodee, of Yo Gabba Gabba! fame, that eating too much candy will make you sick. Katie tells us, "I want to get sick."

Two Cool Cats!

This was Katie's first time to go trick or treating. She has been asking us about how it works for a few weeks now. She LOVED it! I am starting to suspect that my shy girl is not really a shy girl after all. Halloween totally brought her out of her shell. I adore this lady for handing out Goldfish crackers instead of candy.

See! No shyness! No trepidation! She's going for it! She's a trick or treat master!

Costume #2 - Wear your Costume to Music Class and a Halloween Party

Katie has been studying the costume catalog for months. Everyday she selects a new character she'd like to be for Halloween. Due to this indecision on her part, I have been trying to think of all the costume possibilities we can make from her dress up box. (Thank you Aunt D, Uncle H, and Aunt A for all the dress up goodies we have!) Here is selection #2 - the bride.

Katie's behavior was not awesome during music class. Her teacher mused, "She is really like a bride on her special day. She wants things to go her way."

The bride poses with her friend Buzz Lightyear after class. You can see their little faces in costume last year here.

Buzz invited the bride to his Halloween party the following day. Katie had so much fun. She actually got over her shyness and pushed through a group of kids to get to be first to pull the pinata string. I've never seen her do anything like it. A less shy Katie, may prove to be more difficult to steer toward politeness!

Costume #1 - Fall Festival, and Pumpkin Carving

Ballerina fairy princess is CAUGHT!

Grandma came over to join us for the Fall Festival and to teach the ballerina fairy princess some moves. Grandma knows what she's doing. She and I took lessons.

If it smells bad, cup your hand over your mouth and gag. To clarify, it's the hay bales, not Granddad, that has an odor.

Katie finds her bliss.

Granddad thinks Katie learned "the claw" from her Daddy.

As I mentioned prior to this photo, if it is unpleasant in aroma, place hand over mouth and gag.

The Big Orange Pumpkin Farm

On Saturday evening, I told Katie that she could wear her candy corn dress to the pumpkin patch the next day. I forgot to mention to her that she would be wearing it to church first. She was more than a little upset with me when she found out that detail. But as you can see in the picture, all was well again by the time we arrived in pumpkinland.

Look, Piglet, I can do it too!

How much does Daddy love Katie?

This picture is going on my list of all time favs. Love the belly peeking out while she swipes a pumpkin. Good thing I forced her to wear the leggings!!!

Is she making eyes at him? A few friends from church met us at the farm. This little guy was showing off his muscles. She knows this little boy well enough, but insisted on calling him "Him".

Halloween - The Real Deal and Aftermath

Here are a few pics Granddad and Grandma, or Mahner as Katie refers to her, took on Halloween.

While K was celebrating at home with the grandparents and cousins, Jon and I were in NYC carbo loading on spaghetti! I saw Elmo - and a few less appropriate costumes - on Times Square.

The next day we ran 26.2 miles.

Then had pizza and dessert.

This video is of Jon after the marathon. Watch the little old lady pass him! A man offered us $20 to pay for a bike cab across the park. Jon looked so pitiful the man didn't think he could make it. Jon gutted it out to the next park bench for a little rest. Then he was fine.

Thanks for helping Jon raise support for Team for Kids and his first marathon!

Back at home, right when we really needed to catch up on laundry, errands, and housekeeping, K and Mommy were hit with nasty colds. This book makes K-T feel better.

I have read it 15 times in 3 days. So if you ever need help with your horse...

K's First Marathon - A Halloween Preview

It's just a costume. She didn't really run a marathon, yet I swelled with pride when I pinned her bib number on! K wore her costume to music class today. There was a puppy, fairy, pirate, and this Gabba Gabba guy. I'll post official real deal Halloween pictures after the weekend. Promise.

Itty Bitty Treat Bag

I sewed this itty bitty trick or treat bag for Lil K using this tutorial. The tutorial says you can make the bag faster than you can make dinner! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! I am obviously a better cook than seamstress.

When Katie gets bigger she will realize this treat bag is really a trick to downsize her candy portion.

For now she likes that she can carry paci around in it.

Abbey stayed at my parents while we were out of town. Now when Abbey goes out for a potty break, Katie suffers tremendous separation anxiety.

Pumpkin Patch

Katie repeated "punkin" the whole drive to the pumpkin patch. Click here to see Katie have some candy corn.

Feeding the goats or "sheep" as Katie referred to them. Click here to watch the video of the goat interaction!

She touched the sheep! The last petting zoo we visited she was scared to touch the animals.

The fam! It is the squatting in this picture that likely made my hot dog coupons fall out of my pocket. So sad! No hot dog for us!

Jenna (and her parents) met us at the pumpkin patch. The hayride was a big deal. The wheel fell off the back trailer.

Fall Decorating/Redecorating

I was in the dining room attaching fabric scraps to my pumpkin sconce:
for a festive fall feel while Katie played with her toy stash:
in the living room. I spent maybe three minutes on the project and I was only 5 feet away from where Katie was playing. That is why I was so shocked to discover my living room redecorated from its usual look:

Happy Halloween

Katie decided to be a hula girl for Halloween. She loved the feel of her skirt. We visited her Grandma and Granddad at their church carnival. Jon and I ate jumbo corn dogs, a fried chicken sandwich, a bag of chips, and a funnel cake. Halloween is all about the treats, right? I had trouble getting to sleep last evening. Wonder why?
